I’M AFRAID OF NEEDLES!
Many people express a fear of needles, preventing them from receiving treatment. Acupuncture needles are unlike other needles we experience around health care. Acupuncture needles are the width of approximately two human hairs. They are sterile surgical steel and disposed of during treatment. Unlike hypodermic needles, acupuncture needles are solid, not hollow, and have a rounded tip as opposed to a pointed one. The insertion of an acupuncture needle can often go undetected.
The reason for inserting acupuncture needles is to make contact with the acupuncture points, thus contacting the patients Qi. There can be a sensation when this happens. It is often described as a dull ache or slight pull. When the patient experiences this, the practitioner has hit the acupuncture point. The sensation is quick and ends within seconds. Christopher does everything within his power to make sure that each treatment is as comfortable as possible. The large majority of patients agree that the benefits of Classical Five-Element AcupunctureÔ far outweigh any discomfort they might experience.
If you have read this far and think you could benefit from Classical Five-Element AcupunctureÔ and are not seeking treatment because of your fear of needles, you have to ask yourself some questions. What are you afraid of? Are you afraid of a thin piece of metal or are you afraid of healing? Are you afraid of the changes you could experience? How attached are you to your illness? Are you too comfortable with your current experience of life and apprehensive about the unknown? Are you afraid of needles or afraid of being your greatest potential? This is not to say that your fear isn’t real. You just need to ask yourself what this fear is about. |
